The 75 graduates, who had been recruited in 2005 at Baccalaur\u00e9at (GaoKao) level to join the first class of undergraduates at the school \u2013 the Nicole Bru Class \u2013 received their engineering diplomas from the \u00c9cole Centrale and at the same time their Master\u2019s degree from the Beijing Aeronautic and Astronautic University (Beihang).<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was a key moment for the Franco-Chinese establishment, the result of a partnership between the Groupe des \u00c9coles Centrales and Beihang University: after a successful launch phase, and with six years\u2019 experience, the school now has to find its cruising speed.<\/p>\n<h2>The ceremony<\/h2>\n<p>A strong symbol of the two countries\u2019 interest in this pioneering programme, the ceremony, presided over by several ministers (for France, Mr Thierry Mariani, Minister responsible for Transport, and for China, Mr Miao Wei, Minister for Industry and Information Technologies, Mr Du Yubo, First Vice-Minister for Education, Mr Cao Jianlin, Vice-Minister for Science and Technology) took place in the solemn setting of the People\u2019s Palace, Tian An Men Square, in Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nicole Bru, honorary professor of Beihang University and \u201cgodmother\u201d of the class, presented the first graduates with their diplomas, accompanied by Mr Huai Jinpeng, President of Beihang University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the \u00c9cole Centrale Beijing, and Mr Herv\u00e9 Biausser, Director of \u00c9cole Centrale Paris and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of \u00c9cole Centrale Beijing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondation-bru.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-647\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-647\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fondation-bru.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fondation-bru.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fondation-bru.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fondation-bru.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/120208_ecole_centrale_pekin2-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Delegate Lin Lin speaking on behalf of her fellow graduates: \u201cWe shall be going all over the world, holding positions of responsibility and proudly carrying the banner of Centrale Beijing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The day was also marked by the officialising of various agreements, including the Convention between the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Groupe des \u00c9coles Centrales, aiming to strengthen exchanges at the doctoral level, and recognition by the Chinese Minister of Education of Beihang University as an institution of reference hosting the Chinese Research Centre on France.<\/p>\n<h2>Class profile<\/h2>\n<p>108 undergraduates joined the \u00c9cole Centrale Beijing in 2005 to follow a six-year course. About 20 failed to complete the programme, 11 are studying for a double diploma and will graduate a year later. Of the 75 engineers who graduated in January, 22 will continue their studies to thesis level, mostly in France.
