Education

Education is high on the Fondation Bru‘s list of objectives. Through its commitments it aims to make a contribution towards:  :

  • Pushing back the boundaries of knowledge
  • Training the generations who will take up the challenges of tomorrow
  • Giving children and adults alike a better chance in life through education.

Among our commitments :

Ecole Centrale de Pékin

Training engineers

Creation of an engineering school in China based on the French “grandes écoles” system

Dr Nicole Bru decided to provide financial support upstream of the project, thus permitting the creation of China’s first French-speaking engineering school: the École Centrale Beijing (Beihang Sino-French Engineering School), the result of a very innovative form of Sino-French cooperation. The first engineers graduated from the school in January 2012.

Centrale Pékin

From primary school to university

Ensuring access to good conditions of schooling in Burma

Rebuilding of a permanent primary school at Pa Sut and coverage of the families’ expenses to ensure that all the children of this village attend school (480 pupils). Creation of an English class and scholarships enabling the best students to go to university.

Healthcare and health education

In Burma

The Franco-Asian Medical Association, AMFA, created and directed by Professor Patel, has been working for many years to further the medical autonomy of those Asian countries in need of it. It provides equipment, trains medical teams and transmits good healthcare practices… Dr Nicole Bru, who travelled several times to South East Asia for the Institut UPSA de la douleur, wished to support AMFA’s action by funding the setting-up of a number of dispensaries in Burma, as well as a “hygiene” operation to promote the eradication of scabies. These actions are backed up by its commitments in the field of education.

Training assistance dogs

for disabled people

Handi’Chiens, an association created in 1989, supplies specially trained dogs free of charge to children and adults with physical disabilities. In 1999, Dr Nicole Bru personally financed the creation of the Handi’Chiens Centre at Marcy-l’Étoile, near Lyon. She continues to support the work of the organisation, especially through her active participation on its board of directors.

Nothing has any meaning if it is not at the service of Humanity

Man and his environment are at the heart of all the actions supported by the Fondation Bru. In very different fields, notably education and research, culture and heritage, the foundation supports ambitious pioneering projects that are likely to further significantly the cause they serve.
